Walk Each Other Home

In December of 2022 our family lost our precious James to suicide. For several months I was unable to sing at all. Gradually my voice is returning and the music that has brought me answers to all my life questions is slowly returning. Performing is not comfortable yet, perhaps in time this may change. I do feel spririt nudging me to share the songs that have come in these past few months. Our family loss of one held dear is one which other families share. It is my hope that the music and lyrics may allow others to heal through such a loss.

Walk Each Other Home

By Jane Foote. 1.27.23

Short capo up 2 on top strings. G C G D G C G D G  ll:AM C G C G:ll

We are here to walk each other home,

And I see that we can’t do this alone

Take the hand of those most dear

For to walk each other home is why we’re here.

(Chorus)

No one knows the journey of each lifetime,

and each day holds a promise we can grow

Life and death are circling ever near us.

There are questions that answers will not show.

(Chorus)

Our time upon the planet’s full of questions

And appears to be full on angst and war

We can only walk beside those near us

And walking’s how we learn what life is for.

(Chorus)

Searching through the past to find some reasons

Longing to make sense of all that’s come

Counting on the shortening of life’s seasons

To focus on hope and life and love.

(Chorus)

The earth is more than home, it is a passage

A precious way for souls to learn of love

Loving surely is the life worth living

Take a hand that Big Love can be done.
